Thank you for joining me in supporting the Colon Cancer Coalition / Get Your Rear in Gear to make an impact in my community.  My mom, Mevhibe Firat, was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer at the young age of 40 and fought it for almost 6 years before she passed in June 19 2008.

In memory of my mom, I am partnering with the Colon Cancer Coalition with the mission to reduce barriers to colorectal cancer screening and educate the public about life saving colorectal cancer screening options.

DID YOU KNOW? Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer, and estimates state that 1 in 3 adults ages 45+ are NOT being screened as recommended. There is a 1 IN 25 lifetime risk for developing colorectal cancer (1 in 23 for men, 1 in 26 for women).
